Pure Hope Restored — formerly Koinonia Adventures.

We spent our first seasons as Koinonia Adventures. Koinonia is an old word for fellowship — specifically, the kind that forms between people who have shared a long trail: the friend who takes the heavier pack without mentioning it, the stranger at the pass who gives you their last water report. We named the company after that, and the idea hasn't moved an inch since. The name has. Pure Hope Restored is what the long way around actually does to a person, and it is what the gear is for. Clothing doesn't summit anything. People do, together, and their gear either helps or it doesn't.

Designed in Eagle, Idaho

We work out of Eagle, on the edge of some of the best testing terrain in the Lower 48. Every piece in the catalog logs real miles in the Sawtooths before it earns a product page — squall-season shells, shoulder-season insulation, pants dragged over enough granite to find the weak seams. If a prototype fails, it goes back to the table, not into the catalog.

How a piece earns a page

Nothing goes into the catalog because a mill had a good price on it. A piece starts as a problem someone on the team kept running into — a shell that wetted out at the shoulders under a pack, a pant that bound on high steps, a fleece that pilled into felt by the second season. We build to that problem, then take it out until it either holds or shows us where it doesn't.

Failures go back to the table. That's why the line is twenty-four pieces across six racks and not two hundred: every one of them survived the version that didn't.

The six racks

Four pieces each, chosen so the six of them layer into a full kit rather than six separate wardrobes.

• Trail Shells & Rain — 2.5L and 3L waterproof shells, an ultralight wind layer, a packable anorak. The outer wall.
• Insulated Layers — synthetic puffers, a down-alt hood, a fleece-lined vest, an insulated overshirt. Warmth that still works damp.
• Hike Pants & Shorts — stretch and ripstop hike pants, a convertible, a nine-inch trail short.
• Base Layers & Tees — merino blend, a half-zip, a sun shirt, a trail tee. The layer touching skin.
• Camp Flannels & Fleece — heavyweight flannel, grid fleece, sherpa, a full fleece jacket. What you put on at the trailhead.
• Packs & Headwear — a 24L daypack, a 2L hip pack, a wool beanie, a five-panel cap.

What we hold ourselves to

PFC-free DWR on every treated fabric — the mountains don't need our chemistry outliving us. Seams guaranteed for the life of the garment: if our stitching fails, we repair or replace it, no time limit. And a small line on purpose — twenty-four pieces we can stand behind beats two hundred we can't. Anything else is covered by our 30-day returns.

Fabric, and what we won't put on it

Every treated fabric in the line uses a PFC-free DWR. The old chemistry beaded water beautifully and then persisted in watersheds essentially forever; ours sheds just as well and washes off eventually, which is the point. When beading fades — and it will, that's what a finish does — re-treat with any PFC-free spray rather than replacing the shell.

The rest is unglamorous: no fabric softener on anything technical, ever, because it kills loft and DWR in the same wash. Synthetic insulation comes back to life with a cold gentle cycle and a low tumble with a couple of tennis balls. Our FAQ walks through washing and layering piece by piece.

The seam guarantee, in plain terms

Every seam we sew is guaranteed for the life of the garment. If our stitching fails in normal use, we repair the piece or replace it at no charge, with no time limit and no receipt archaeology. Email us photos and we start from there.

That is a warranty claim, and it is deliberately separate from returns. Returns are about fit and mind-changing and run 30 days from delivery. The seam guarantee has no clock on it at all. Wear-through from granite and abrasion isn't a seam failure — but write in anyway, because we would rather look at it than guess.

Getting it to you

Orders leave our US warehouse in 1–2 business days, and that handling window is the same whichever service you pick — it's the transit leg that changes:

• Standard — 5–10 business days in transit, 6–12 total. Free over $75, otherwise $6.99.
• Express — 2–4 in transit, 3–6 total. $12.99.
• Overnight — 1–2 in transit, 2–4 total. $24.99.

Prices already include any applicable sales tax, so the number on the product page is the number at checkout. Checkout takes Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal. If a permit date is closing in, the maths is on our Shipping Policy page — order at least 12 business days out on Standard, or take Express.

Returns run 30 days from delivery, unworn beyond an indoor try-on and with tags on. We email a prepaid label and deduct a flat $6.99 from the refund; there is no restocking fee on top of that, and refunds land back on your original payment method within 5 business days. Who reads your email

A small team in Eagle. The same people who pick the fabrics answer the messages, pack the boxes, and handle the warranty photos — there is no tier one. Write in about sizing before you order rather than after, and tell us what you're doing in the piece; "I run cold and I'm going up Thompson Peak in October" gets you a far better answer than a size chart does.
